Supporting Children with Challenging Behaviors in Early Childhood Education and Care Settings

This intermediate level course is intended to support professionals currently working in early childhood education and care settings with a basic understanding of child development to build upon skills for respond in a culturally, linguistically, and developmentally appropriate manner. Students will examine examples of challenging behaviors and appropriate response via lecture examples, video, and facilitated peer discussion. Students increased understanding of the purpose of challenging behaviors and appropriate responses will be assessed their ability to describe challenging behaviors, participate in role play, and appropriate responses in their own words. Completion of our introductory workshop: Identifying, Understanding, and Responding to Challenging Behaviors in Early Childhood Education and Care Settings is suggested but not required.
